About Project Rakshak

Project Rakshak is a road safety initiative by the Government of Odisha that is aimed at saving precious lives by creating First Responders who are trained on essentials of emergency response. For this over 300 Master Trainers will be trained by Invictus Survival Sciences, who will futher train over 30,000 First Responders across all 30 districts of Odisha. This will help in creating a sustainable change in the quality of emergency response and help available to the road users across the state.
Objective
State Transport Department has taken up a capacity building program, called “Project Rakshak” in partnership with GIZ under Integrated and Sustainable Urban Transport Systems for Smart Cities in India (SMART-SUT) project to create 300 Master Trainers across all districts of Odisha, selected from red cross with two-fold strategy. These master trainers will not only be working as the first responders to the road crashes but will also impart training to 30,000 civilians, selected as those who are living/working close to black spots, who will also become first responders.
